It's easy to do, and DVDs and instruction manuals are available for additional assistance.

To create the form yourself, you will need to purchase a dressform or pantsform kit, which includes a step-by-step guide to making the form. As a complement to your instruction manual, you may also purchase a DVD of the form-making process so you can see exactly how it is done. Please note that the DVD is a complement to the manual and does not contain all of the detailed instructions you will get in the manual.

The kits include complete instructions, plaster bandages, knit fabric covering, ribbon for the lines on the finished form, tape, a release agent for the foam, miscellaneous items that you may not have on hand, and a list of sources for the foam. Foam itself is NOT included in the kit.

You will also need access to a few basic tools such as a carpenter's level, wood saw, and wood file.

You will make a plaster cast of your body by wrapping it with plaster bandage strips, similar to what is used on a broken arm. You then let it dry, cut it apart and remove it from your body. You will need a friend to help you with the wrap process. Bandage scissors (for cutting the cast off the body) are available AND ARE NECESSARY if you don't already have a pair. Regular scissors should not be used.

You will then fill the cast with liquid polyurethane foam to create the rigid foam form, following the instructions in the manual. Once the foam is hardened and cast removed, you will sand it down, cover it with fabric and attach it to the stand.

Basic kits do not come with stands; the stands are available for purchase separately. The basic pantsform kit does come with a wall mount bracket. If you prefer to order one of the Packaged Deals, this option comes with the DVD and stand, and offers you a $15.00 discount.

NEED A LITTLE MORE HELP?

MyTwin also offers a Wrap-Only option, for customers who would prefer that we do the wrapping for you. The cost is $100 for the wrapping plus any travel expenses. You will still need to purchase the kit, which includes instructional manual, and foam. You would also be responsible for paying any shipping fees to get the cast back to your home, if necessary.
